the spiritual, moral and social vision that comes from religion. This situation
weakens the United Nations as it seeks to carry out its most crucial mission.

This book is the proceedings of the formation meeting of the Interreligious and International Peace Council (IIPC) in New York, October 1-4, 2003. It contains discussion by diverse religious and politcal leaders around the world on the theme "Global Governance for a New Realm of Peace.

The IIFWP’s Assembly series focuses on “The Search for Solutions
to Critical Global Problems.” Assembly 2000, convened in New York,
with sessions at the United Nations, just prior to the Millennium General
Assembly, considered the theme of “The Renewal of the United Nations
and Building a Culture of Peace.

This “God and World Peace” conference considered the claim that ultimately world peace requires that we be rightly related to God. It is not only religious leaders and religious institutions that ought to be guided by the right understanding and right relationship to God, but also individuals and institutions representing fields such as government, business, education, the media, culture, civil society, etc.
